The low-volume car will likely be an exhilarating ride, as the 0-100 km/h was reduced by 0.2 seconds compared to the normal M3 coupe. The 4.4-second time is thanks to the V8 engine, and its 8.7% power increase to 450 PS (331 kW / 444 bhp). Torque was also boosted by 10% to a maximum 440 Nm (325 lb-ft). A 10% increase in cylinder stroke allowed the GTS' engine displacement to top 4.36-liters, up from the 4.0-liter displacement of the V8 engine on the M3.
Not surprisingly, the engine is mated to the fast shifting seven-speed M Dual Clutch Transmission, which helps the car sprint across the one kilometer mark in 22.5 seconds. Top speed of the car is 305 km/h (190 mph).
Other features on the car include Y-spoke 19-inch M alloy wheels, and a full set of aerodynamic upgrades, like the new front apron with variable air ducts, and rear spoiler. Also seen on the car are tuned variants of the Dynamic Stability Control, Anti-lock Brakes, and M Dynamic Mode systems.
The BMW M3 GTS weighs 70 kg (154 lbs) less than the 1,600 kg (3,527 lbs) M3. The GTS is a street legal model. Customers in Germany will be able to purchase the car from July 2010, with production taking place in Garching, Germany."
