Slightly Mad Studios are proud to announce yet another exciting new licensing partnership as the championship-winning ORECA 03 LMP2 car will be included in Project CARS.
Thanks to the efforts of WMD partner Andy Marshall, Project CARS will be the first racing title to give gamers access to this spectacular and highly-sophisticated racing machine that has taken the sports car racing world by storm.
The 03 will be a perfect fit for the WMD-powered racing title, joining a career-ladder that already features a wide variety of sports car racing machinery alongside a large selection of cars from other disciplines of racing.
Built by the French motorsport specialists ORECA, the 03 made its competiton debut in 2011. The car made an instant impression in the highly-competitve LMP2 class, leading the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and clincing the 2011 Le Mans Intercontinental Cup LMP2 Championship.
In 2012, the car’s success story continued as Thiriet by TDS Racing drove the 03 to triumph in the European Le Mans Series Championship.
Designed by ORECA’s David Floury, the open-top race car is build around a light carbon fibre monocoque, using a double-wishbone suspension with push rods on all four corners.
The 03 is designed to work with a wide variety of engines, coupled with a six-speed Xtrac gearbox. V8 engines from Nissan & BMW-Judd are the most common choices for teams campaigning the 03.
Project CARS will feature both the ORECA presentation version of the car as well as the championship-winning Thiriet by TDS Racing car. As usual, players will be invited to paint up their very own versions of the car as well.
WMD members will be the first to enjoy the new car once it’s will be added to the development builds of Project CARS for a first test drive.
To shorten the waiting time, members also get to follow every aspect of the car development process on the WMD forums, from the first steps of development to the finished car out on track.
